Maps are Easily Updated

Do you want to add a new development or road? With BusBoss , you don’t have to wait a year or more for map updates. You can easily add roads yourself in a matter of seconds. All map functions and tools are available on a toolbar whenever the map is displayed. All map editing, route creation and modification, and redistricting functions are performed on the same map. You don’t need to change screens.

Detailed Area Maps

Your installation of BusBoss will include incredibly detailed maps of your school district, including any areas outside your district where your buses may need to travel. The map data comes with pre-loaded street names and house number ranges along street segments. You do not need to spend weeks entering house number data. Additional map layers are also provided including rivers, lakes, parks, railroads, etc.

BusBoss can use district provided maps or we can provide Tiger, TeleAtlas or NavTeq maps to use in BusBoss. A BusBoss Map Viewer is available for download from the Orbit Software, Inc. website to compare the Tiger and TeleAtlas county wide street map data.

Route Maps can be printed with driving directions, street names, student house locations, bus stop locations, landmarks and other map symbols.

Server Maps Shareable Among All Workstations

With BusBoss, all of your map data is stored in the same database as your students, schools, routes, etc... This feature allows you to share your map data across your network. Since BusBoss allows you to update your maps, when one workstation modifies the map, the changes immediately show on the other workstations.

You do not need to perform any extra steps to update your map data. BusBoss makes map changes easily and shareable between workstations.

Additionally, since the map data is stored in the database, changes that occur to your maps from year to year are also updated. This becomes significant when there are state auditors that must verify that you comply with regulatory requirements. When a new road is constructed and subsequently added to BusBoss, you won't need to explain why that new road wasn't used for transportation in years prior to the road being built.

No Vendor Intervention Required

With BusBoss, you will have the tools necessary to accomplish all map modifications and updates yourself. No vendor intervention is required to maintain the BusBoss system. Upon completion of training, you will be confident and self-sufficient.
