POPULATE CURRENT ENCOUNTER TABLE
In order to route students, they must have records in the current encounter table. These records can be created in two ways. When a single student is added, making them a rider creates the encounter records. When more than one student is added, you can run this utility to automatically assign students' encounter records using their home address for every day of the week.
Prior to using the Assign Days Screen or running the Populate Encounter Table utility, each student must have the following information on their Student Information Screen.
- Home address
- Current school with its school calendar created
- Assigned as a rider
- Marked active
- Valid entrance date
The Current Encounter table stores the following information for each student that is a rider for each day of week which has been assigned as a AM or PM pick-up and/or drop-off.
- Student ID (not student idnumber)
- Week Day (Day assigned to Addresses for routing)
- Address ID (Addresses assigned to Days for routing)
- School ID (Schools assigned to Days for routing)
- Purpose (AM or PM - Pickup or Dropoff)
- Bus Stop ID (Updated at the time a student is assigned a bus stop)
- Route ID (Updated at the time a student is placed on a route)
