Stops Tools Menu
This menu contains the following tools:
ASSIGN RIGHT SIDE PICKUP STOPS
This tool allows you to configure which stops require a right sided pickup for routes. You can specify the grades that each stop is configured for. For example, you can configure a stop such that any student assigned to the stop that is in 3rd grade or less requires a right sided pickup.
Stops listed in red may not be close enough to the road to be treated as a right sided pickup. You may need to use the Move Stop function or the Snap to Street function to move the stop closer to the road.
Stops that are on Hazardous Roads will have a checkmark in the Haz column.
Assign Right Side Pickup Stops Screen
AUTO CREATE STOPS
This function will automatically create stops for students that do not have stops located within the Walk to BUS STOP range from the student's address. The stops will be created at the nearest intersection for most students. Exceptions to this are students with Wheelchair requirements, addresses located on a hazardous road, and addresses located within a Threat Zone.
AUTO LOCATE STOPS
Using the STOPS toolbar, you can let BusBoss™ automatically locate stops on the map.
Click Auto Locate Stops to start the function. This function will attempt to locate all unlocated stops. This process may take a long time depending on the number of stops and the speed of your computer. If you want to continue, click Yes. If you want to cancel, click No.
Auto Locate Message Screen
Any stop that could not be located will still be displayed in the unlocated list on the Edit Stops Screen.
COMBINE CURRENT STOPS
How do I combine multiple stops into one?
This utility will allow you to combine current stops. Choose which stops you would like to combine in the left menu, and select which stop all selected stops will go to. Students will be assigned to the selected stop and routes containing the involved stops will be updated accordingly.
Combine Current Stops Screen
CREATE HOUSE STOPS
How do I create house stops for my students?
This tool will assign students currently not assigned to stops. The stop will be created using the home address information (house number, prefix, street name and street type) and will be located at the same location as the home address, if located already. Unlocated addresses and stops can be found in the unlocated addresses and unlocated stops screens.
Create House Stops Screen
This tool will delete a Stop from BusBoss™ only if the stop description and stop location are duplicated exactly. If one is located and the other is not, the un-located stop will be deleted. If students and/or routes are assigned to both stops, then all students and/or routes will be assigned to one stop and the other will be deleted.
Click Delete Duplicates to start the tool. A confirmation screen will appear; the function starts automatically after Yes is selected. Click No to cancel the function.
Delete Duplicate Stops Confirmation
NOTE: Duplicate stop descriptions will not be deleted if both stops are located and are not in the same location.
DELETE UNUSED STOPS
Delete Unused Stops
This tool will delete a Stop from BusBoss™ only if the stop is NOT located on a route and does NOT have any students assigned to it.
RESET SCHOOL STOPS
This tool will set the schools assigned to bus stops based on how the routes are created. This will limit the stops displayed in the Closest Stops for Schools list in the Maintain Student Assign Stop screen.
To use this tool, first create all of your bus routes. Then you can run this function to setup what schools can use a bus stop.
Once you have schools assigned to your bus stops, then you can automatically assign students to stops and they will only get assigned to stops that service their school (based on your routes).
Reset School Stops
SET ALL STOPS TO SERVICE ALL SCHOOLS
This tool will set each bus stop in BusBoss™ to be assigned to ALL schools. This means that if you automatically assign students to stops, every student will be assigned to the closest stop to his house, which may or may not be on a route for their school.
If students that live in the same house use different stops based on what school they attend, then do not use this tool. Instead, create your routes first and then use the Reset School Stops function. Then you can automatically assign students to stops and they will get assigned to the correct stop based on how your routes are created.
Set All Stops To Service All Schools
NOTE: Use this function with caution. Remember, BusBoss™ automatically assigns students to the closest stop that services their school. If you set all stops to service all schools, then students may get assigned to stops closer to their house, which may not be on a route (for example, high school students may walk farther to their bus stop than elementary students).
SET STOP NODE ID's
This tool will assign Node ID's to all bus stops that are located on the map. This data is used for routing.
Click Set Node ID's from the toolbar and the following screen pops up. You can set the Node IDs for All Stops or All Stops W/O Node Ids. This tool can take a long time to run depending on the number of bus stops and the speed of your computer. Click Cancel to exit without any changes.
Set Stop Node ID's Message
Use this tool if the stop descriptions are not in alphabetical order on the stop description reports or on the Maintain Stops Screen.
Sort Stop Description
Click Sort Stops to run the tool. A confirmation screen will display; Click OK to run it or Cancel to exit.
SPLIT CURRENT STOPS
How do I split a stop into two separate ones?
This utility will allow you to split a current stop by assigning selected students to a new stop in the same location as the selected stop.
Split Current Stops Screen
SPLIT DUPLICATE STOPS
This utility can be used when the same stop is being serviced by multiple busses going to the same school. BusBoss™ cannot determine which route to assign to the student. When this happens you must either remove the stop from one of the routes or split the stop.

After selecting the stop in the list, the following screen pops up.
